A collection of ‘lounge-groove standards’ ft. new radio hit’s – AC Cool

Gently does it …But do it!

Paul Petersen was born in Cape Town, South Africa, in the middle of the apartheid era. Music was very much a part of his family, culture and traditions. He received his first guitar, a Hofner twelve-string, from his paternal grandfather “Oupa” at the age of 13. Paul was determined to play the guitar like his late friend Russell Herman, and he practiced for hours at a time in the house and on the street corner with his friends. (To this day Paul still wishes he could play like Russell did.)

At 16 Paul began playing professionally in the Cape Town area with a dance band and then in Port Elizabeth with a group called Maiden Voyage where he met singer/songwriter/cabaret artist Taliep Petersen. Taliep and Paul moved to Johannesburg where Paul played with the group Drive. Finally Paul made his big break when he joined the band Spirits Rejoice. They backed the singing sensation trio Joy and toured extensively in South Africa, Namibia (then Southwest Africa), Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho. With Spirits Rejoice, Paul recorded the song “Shine On” which charted at number five (5) on the South African Hit Parade for 12 weeks.

For the next decade Paul played with the group Sapphyre throughout southern Africa to include Sun City and most of the Sun International casino resorts and five-star hotels.

Currently Paul lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he plays with Tucats, the Lost River Cave Big Band and the Nashville-based world music group Ancienthand (www.ancienthand.com) who have their own recording studio, Kalimba Studio, in Nashville, Tennessee. Paul spends most of his time in his own recording studio in Bowling Green where he works on his projects and others from around the country.

In his more than two decades of playing music, Paul has played, backed and recorded with American and British artists Lamont Dozier, Clarence Carter, Dobie Gray, Timmy Thomas, Double Exposure, Leo Sayer. Janice Hoyte and South African artists Thandie Klaasen, Abigail Kubeka, Mara Louw, Margaret Singana, Sophia Foster, Richard Jon Smith, Lionel Petersen, Paul “Curly” Hanmer, Robbie Jansen, Nico Carstens, Monty Webber, Mynie Grové, Dianne Chandler, Alvon Collison, Jennifer Jones, Terry Fortune, Richard Loring, Zane Adam, Joanne Pezarro, Anne Powers, Manuel Escorcio, David Kramer and Stella Starr.

Paul has played for many artists and dignitaries to include UB40, Roman Polanski, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, F. W. DeKlerk, Trevor Manuel, Sol Kerzner, the American Ambassadors to South Africa and the Comores Islands, the South African Ambassador to the United States and the Vice President of the Comores

Durban-based RUCHE has just released his debut album ‘Once in a Lifetime. The album is a collection of some of his best song writing, produced by veteran hit-producer Dr. Victor, who also co-arranged some of the tracks with Ruche.

The first single ‘Goodbye’ has elements of rock, pop, jazz - with an acoustic feel

... So just in case you forgot, here is another reason to take a trip back in time to the - really! - good old days. When paisley was the thing to wear and big hair was the way to be seen, ... bell-bottoms and platforms and dancing-the-night-away - without a care in the world ~

So get up and boogie as we take another blast from the past.

Let the music keep on playing ...

CHAD SAAIMAN - Burning up the national airwaves with his first single ‘Moving On’ off his highly anticipated self-written debut album ‘Chasing Melodies’.

The music that flows from this inspired artist can be described as infectious, untainted and above all soulful with R&B, jazz and acoustic influences.

The origin of his music is about depth and how it resonates within his listeners.

Paul Petersen - ‘Doing It All For You’
*From the same team and studio as ‘Unshakeable’ by Thabo Mdluli comes a stunning new track from Paul Petersen.

Thabo Mdluli
In 2007 Thabo Mdluli (then primarily known as an in demand all star studio session man) stepped into the solo spotlight as a premier singer, producer and performer in his own right with his debut album “Wonderful Life. Driven in part by the hit singles Wonderful Life and Unshakeable, Wonderful Life is a critical triumph for Thabo, as it allowed him to make his mark in the South African Music scene, but even long before remaking the coveted hit song by Black "Wonderful life" the writing was already on the wall that this soulful star was on the rise. Thabo's talent was cultivated through dozens of talent shows and musical productions during his high school years. He landed his first professional role in a local production called Joyous Celebration. For 4 years whilst he was with the ensemble he showcased his vocal range and charmed thousands of gospel lovers all around the country as a featured vocalist on Joyous Celebration 1, 2, 3& 5. In 2004, he wowed millions of television viewers as he sang the signal tune of the most popular TV show in the country the Felicia Mabuza Suttle show, where he also shared the stage with the Manhattans. Mdluli went on to record with Family Factory, twice SAMA award winners and later landed a role in Richard Loring’s African Footprint. For most performers achievements of that magnitude would be the culmination of a dream, for Thabo Mdluli however those where mere stepping stones. His real goal and gift is to tap into something honest and true within his audience and himself and connect on that level. When asked what he hopes his audience will glean from his much anticipated debut album. Thabo replies, I want them to hear and feel my soul. I’m trying to take them to new places and I want them to be excited about that. I’m trying to be me and embrace every part of me that is growing, that is continually listening to music and soaking up more influences. Thabo’s album is many things, chief among them it’s a pop/soul album fuelled by intelligence, intuition, sensuality, spirit and a creativity brought by the writers and producers on the project, who brought songs like Unshakeable, to Thabo breezy and sexy unshakeable is a joyful, cool love song the shares the warmth of his heart. Two years ago Thabo Mdluli was a highly regarded session musician with unprecedented accomplishments. In addition to winning the highest accolade in the country the SAMA, Mdluli has supported a breathtaking list of South Africa musos, Miriam Makeba, Dollar Brand, the late TK, Danny K & Caiphus Semenya, making him very versatile in his presentation. Those roles, in conjunction with performances on international stages with great names like Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Toto, Josh Groban, Usher and Puff Johnson, led to him being invited to perform at Quincy Jone’s back to the future concert in Italy. Those are just a few impressive credits Thabo’s amassed in the last few years also included in that list are sessions with Hugh Masekela, Ringo Madlingozi, Sibongile Khumalo, Kabelo, Swazi Dlamini and Hosting three TV Programs, TourismBiz on SABC3, Gospel Stars SABC 2 and The World Today a current affairs program on SABC 3. Thabo sees Television as a powerful medium of communication that allows him to positively impact emerging sectors of our society, hence his passion for niche programming. Currently he’s a host of Agriculture Today a daily business program on SABC 2. Agriculture Today is a program for agriculture enthusiasts who want to know more about this sector. Every episode is geared to empower the viewer to make the best decisions on farming and to assist potential and existing farmers to enhance their skills within the agricultural sector. Although a popular musician most of his life Mdluli is also known today as the man at the helm of The Tonight Show on DSTV channel 331. Thabo made his first appearance on The Tonight Show on February, 2008. Though he can be sharp and is an astute commentator on Christian matters, there is something nice and comforting about the soft-eyed, tall man that appeals to vast African audiences. Since taking the Tonight Show's reigns as a host, Mdluli has attempted to inject the show with a slightly hipper edge by affecting a more casual look. It's a tough balancing act, but he manages to keep the mature One Gospel viewers engaged with debates and discussions of investigated topics on a weekly bases. Most recently Mdluli whipped the audience into a frenzy with a stunning performance at the 2007 Miss SA Pageant capturing even more fans with his on stage magnetism. Thabo is an artist who proves that even in an age of expediency and commercialism, real talent not only still matters but will be acknowledged .He went from playing gospel and singing in the church choir to pop stardom thanks to collaborations with great producers such as Robert Schoerder, and Alexis Faku. Apart from carving a steadfast career as a solo performer, Thabo has established himself as an entrepreneur like his fellow pop star friends he has business holdings such as a production company producing music for advertising, Television Production Company & his own Independent Record Label. He wants to redirect the SA Pop culture from hooded sweatshirts and baggy jeans to Corporate Suits and button ups. In 2004 Thabo got a stake in a TV Production company that was responsible for producing TourismBIZ a Business magazine programme on SABC 3 that focused on showcasing South Africa’s tourism Products. Although Mdluli no longer holds a stake in Media World he still continues to present, direct and produce programming for the company. And now holds majority shareholding in another TV venture. Thabo also co-owns Noiseroom a company that produces music for advertising, their recent work being writing & producing new music for the re-branding of South Africa’s biggest retail chain Pick ‘n Pay. As President and CEO of Music Plan Production Thabo is responsible for steering the careers of Truhill a gospel fusion Band and Soul Creative & Ms-n a powerhouse RnB duo. Even though it’s still early days Thabo has proven himself to be an astute businessman. Thabo Mdluli is about to become one of the most influential male artists of our time. Whether you call it "fate" or "destiny" or "a calling," the fact is that some people are born to sing and write music and this multi-talented singer, songwriter, arranger producer and TV host is fulfilling his childhood dreams and ambitions. One listen to the soulful yet edgy Wonderful life and there's no question that Thabo Mdluli indeed delivers the real deal, and beginning the next chapter in a career filled with promise and possibility.
